Collection: Jianzhan

Jianzhan (Jian ware) began as the venerated teaware of the Song Dynasty — and lives on today as a craft of China's intangible heritage.

Each piece is thrown, glazed and fired by hand. Inside the kiln, fire transforms the glaze into oil-droplet speckles, rabbit-fur streaks and starry bursts — a natural "Kiln Change" (Yao Bian). No two pieces ever come out the same. You own the only one in existence.

Teapots, point-tea bowls and cups — made to be used at the tea table, admired at a glance, and kept for years.
