Welcome to Heritage of China: Bringing Chinese Artisan Crafts into Modern Life

At Heritage of China, we believe a handmade object is never just an object. It carries history, skill, and the quiet presence of the maker’s hands.

We are a curated shop for Chinese artisan crafts, with a focus on traditions recognized as intangible cultural heritage in China. Our first collections feature Jianzhan tea bowls, Yixing Zisha teapots, and Celadon. In the future, we will continue to bring more beautiful handmade crafts from China to customers around the world.

Why We Created Heritage of China

Heritage of China was born from a simple wish: to make Chinese craftsmanship easier to discover and truly appreciate.

We are not here only to sell products. We want to be a bridge — connecting Chinese artisans with people around the world who love tea, craft, and timeless design.

We visit artisan studios, learn about clay, glaze, forming, and firing, and select pieces that honor tradition while fitting naturally into modern life. Every object has an origin, a character, and a story.

Our First Collections

Jianzhan Jianzhan comes from Jianyang, Fujian, and is one of the most celebrated tea bowl traditions in Chinese history. Fired at high temperatures, its iron-rich clay and glaze create unpredictable patterns — hare’s fur, oil spot, partridge feather, and the rare yohen. Jianzhan is also known in Japan as tenmoku. Because the patterns form naturally in the kiln, no two bowls are exactly alike. Each one is a small, one-of-a-kind landscape.

Zisha

Zisha, or purple clay, comes from Yixing, Jiangsu. It is famous for teapots made from unglazed clay, prized by tea lovers for its ability to retain heat and develop a warm patina over time. A zisha teapot is both a functional tea tool and a collectible object. With use, it slowly takes on the character of the tea and the hands that care for it. It is a piece made to be used, loved, and passed down.

Celadon

Celadon, known in Chinese as qingci, is one of the most enduring ceramic traditions in China. It is a high-fired, green-glazed ware admired for its jade-like surface, calm color, and quiet elegance. The glaze can range from pale green to deep olive, with subtle shifts that make each piece feel alive. Historic kilns such as Longquan in Zhejiang are especially famous for celadon. For centuries, celadon has been used for tea ware, vases, plates, and everyday objects. It brings a sense of refinement and stillness to the table, the shelf, or the home.

What Intangible Cultural Heritage Means

Many of the techniques behind these crafts are recognized as intangible cultural heritage in China. This heritage is not only about technique. It is about knowledge, culture, and identity passed down through generations.

When you choose a handmade piece, you are not just bringing home an object. You are helping keep a traditional craft visible, valued, and alive.

Live Artisan Showcases Every Night

Every night at 9 PM Eastern Time, we showcase works from a different artisan. Each artisan brings their own style, skill, and story. And every piece is one of a kind — made by hand, with its own character and details.
